Sun, sea, swimming pool: the summer essentials that make us happy! However, your hair does not always look happy. After your holiday, you can suffer from dry, frizzy and damaged hair and that is of course not really nice to come home to. Don't worry: with our hair tips you will be well prepared for the summer and ensure that your hair stays healthy!
Protect your hair from the sun
Of course, we don't need to tell anyone that you need to protect your skin from the sun. But did you know that your hair also suffers from the damaging effects of UV radiation? UV radiation dries out the hair , leaving you with dry, dull and frizzy hair at the end of the summer. Fortunately, you can prevent this by using a leave-in spray with a UV filter , such as the My Hero Wonder Spray. Where possible, we add a UV filter to our products, so there is a good chance that your favorite products already offer protection.
By the way, UV radiation also causes your colored locks to fade faster, so with a colored hairdo it is extra important to protect your hair. Has your color faded? Then you can bring it back to life with a color mask .
Prevent seawater from drying out your hair
The sea can also cause your hair to become dehydrated. This is due to the large amount of salt in seawater. Salt draws out moisture, which dries out your hair. And although a beachy look can be beautiful, you don't want to damage your hair. That's why it's wise to wet your hair with tap water before you go into the sea . This way, the hair will already be filled, so that it will absorb less seawater. After your visit to the beach, it's best to use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner to give your hair some extra love in the summer. The Kiss Of Life Shampoo and Conditioner are perfect for this. These products repair the broken bonds in the hair, which rebuilds and strengthens your locks from within.
The RESCUE shampoo, conditioner and spray are also available in travel size , so you can simply pack them in your suitcase!
Green hair from pool water? No thanks!
Yes, it's true: swimming pool water can turn your hair green ! Chlorine is often blamed for this, but copper (from water pipes, for example) is actually the culprit. Especially if you have bleached hair, there is a good chance that you will end up with a green glow after a summer in the pool. Bleaching removes the red color pigments from the hair, so there is nothing left in the hair to neutralize the green color and it can therefore be expressed. To prevent this, you can do exactly the same as when you go into the sea: wet your hair with tap water and then use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner.
