Unfortunately, we are not all blessed with a full head of hair and natural volume. Of course, there is nothing wrong with fine and thin hair, but it can be a bit more difficult to achieve that voluminous effect. Did you know that thin and fine hair are not the same? We will explain the difference so that you can find out whether your hair is thin, fine or perhaps both and give you the tips you need to create a full look with it.
THIN HAIR AND FINE HAIR: THE DIFFERENCE
Although thin hair and fine hair are often mentioned in the same breath, there is a big difference between the two. To determine whether you have fine hair, you look at the diameter of an individual hair. If the hair has a relatively small diameter, then you have fine hair. If you look at the amount of hair on the head (the density), then you look at how thin or how thick the hair is. If you have relatively few hairs on your head, then you have thin hair. It is therefore possible that you have fine hair, but that it is still a thick head because you have many hair follicles (and therefore thick hair). Your hairdo is often full, but may lack volume.
HOW TO MAKE THIN AND FINE HAIR LOOK FULLER
Okay, thin and fine hair may be two different things, but both have roughly the same advice if you want to make your hair look fuller. That's a relief. If you have thin and/or fine hair, we have the hair hacks for you to create lots of va-va-volume!
- Avoid heavy products. Instead, go for a lightweight shampoo and conditioner, like Daydream Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. Use the latter only on the lengths and ends to ensure your hair stays light at the roots.
- For thin and fine hair, there is no miracle cure that will make extra hair grow on your head or that will make your hair permanently thicker. But with the Supernatural Thickening Cream you come close. This cream contains wheat protein, which forms a layer around each individual hair, making your hair look fuller and thicker. Apply it to the roots of your hair (if you have fine hair as well as thin hair, you can also apply the cream to the lengths and ends), dry your hair with the hairdryer and voilà : your hair looks a lot thicker! This effect is not permanent, but no one will notice that if you add this product to your standard hair routine!
- Another product that makes your hair look thicker and fuller is the Date Night Thickening Spray. Just like the Supernatural Thickening Cream, this makes your locks look fuller.
- Dry shampoo, can you do without it? We certainly can't. But did you know that there are dry shampoos that remove the greasy look and can provide more body and texture ? The Hustler Texturising Dry Shampoo, for example, gives your hair a clean look as well as lots of volume and extra body.
- Thin, fine hair tends to look flat. For a quick fix , try the Teaser Styling Dust . This miracle product thickens your hair at the roots and gives you an instant volume boost.
